For more information contact: KY FAF Coordinator at Kentucky Youth Ministries at Kyfa@bellsouth.net What is Fine Arts? The Fine Arts Festival is a valuable opportunity for students to discover and develop their ministry gifts. It is becoming one of the fastest growing ministry areas in our Fellowship with over 70,000 students participating in 2007. Students are discovering God has given each and every one of them a gift that needs to be developed and shared with others.
The Fine Arts Festival program exists to allow students to sharpen their talents as they minister to others. If you have any questions relating to your district Festival, please contact your District Youth Director’s office (DYD). Other questions relating to the national event can be directed to the National Fine Arts Festival office by calling (417) 862-2781 ext. 4035 or E-mailing faf@ag.org. How Do I Get Involved? “How”, you ask, “can I get involved in the Fine Arts Ministry when no one at my church even knows what Fine Arts is?” Read below and discover the road to the Fine Arts Festival. Obtain a copy of a 2008 Official Fine Arts Festival Rules Book.Call your district office; speak to the Youth Department Call GPH (1-800-641-4310) and request item number 731-404. Or you may download a copy. Call your DYD to find out when and where the local festival will take place. Ask how to obtain district registration forms. Ask when the deadline is to register for the district Festival. Get directions to the district Festival.Ask your youth pastor to help you with fund-raising ideas- if needed. Ask your pastor if you can show your presentation to your congregation and youth service as practice before your local festival. This is a great way to begin exposing your church to Fine Arts and it generates interest and support. Ask your DYD for examples of score sheets. This will help you get an idea of what the adjudicators base their scores on. Pray. Ask the Lord to guide you and teach you during your Fine Arts experience. Remember, scores are not the ultimate goal; what you are doing is preparing yourself and refining your skill so you can more effectively tell people about Jesus. Order our FA Student brochure and FA Leader brochure to generate interest within your church. You may order from GPH and request items 731-428 and 731-429 respectively. These are free of charge. There are thousands of students across the nation who are involved in Fine Arts. They come from a wide variety of situations. Some come from small churches and some from large churches; some attend a Festival with their whole youth group, and some attend alone. True, stepping out where no person has gone before (at least no person in your church) can be a little intimidating. However, your church may need someone like you to lead the way. Fine Arts is a program that encourages you to refine your ministry gifts. What church would not benefit from teenagers learning how to use their gifts to uplift people and show Jesus to the world? If you are alone in your church or youth group and want to learn more about Fine Arts, do not be afraid! Get ready to take a step on an exciting journey that only God can predict! Help lead your church to a new place that only you are dreaming of. Fine Arts Festival (FAF) is a ministry of the Kentucky Youth Ministries that offers students in grades 6-12 the opportunity to participate in an annual evaluation in various fine arts categories. |
